Cesare Pietroiusti: A Certain Number of Things

This is the first anthological and retrospective exhibition dedicated to the Italian artist (b. Rome, 1955) in a museum institution. It is a project by the artist Cesare Pitroiusti curated by Lorenzo Balbi with the curatorial assistance of Sabrina Samorì.

The main feature of the exhibition is its format with sections corresponding to “year-objects”, starting from the artist’s year of birth. The final “year-object” (to be released in 2019), with its mise en abyme twist of placing the exhibition within itself, is a laboratory that will be activated by the students and young artists. The resulting work (a combination of sculpture, painting, video and audio material, photos and text) will be displayed at Madre – Donnaregina Contemporary Art Museum of Naples. The project was organised with the collaboration of the Grazer Kunstverein of Graz (Austria) with further cultural events being held at its premises.
