Di semplicità e di brivido
P420 hosts "Di semplicità e di brivido": a dialogue between De Pisis and seven contemporary artists.
“Di semplicità e di brivido” consists of a dialogue, suggested in a non-dogmatic and non-philological way, between approximately twenty-five works by one of the most important painters of the Italian twentieth century, Filippo de Pisis (Ferrara, 1896 – Milan, 1956), and the works of seven international painters – Richard Aldrich (Hampton, 1975), Michael Berryhill (El Paso, 1972), Luca Bertolo (Milan, 1968), Paul Housley (Stalybridge, 1964), Merlin James (Cardiff, 1960), Mairead O’hEocha (Dublin, 1962), Maaike Schoorel (Santpoort, 1973) – invited to act as a counterpoint to de Pisis’s paintings and to establish a comparison capable of highlighting some aspects of profound topicality in his less enlightened and well-known work, that belonging to the period between the 1940s and his death in 1956.
