Flavio Favelli: Nuova Mixage
"Nuova Mixage" is a project by Flavio Favelli at Bar Vittorio Emanuele in Bologna, as part of Art City Bologna on the occasion ofArte Fiera, accompanied by a text presenting a dialogue with the writer Emanuele Trevi.
Flavio Favelli presents fifteen new compositions consisting of series of unlabelled bottles, displayed on the large mirrored wall of the bar. The work questions the form of the bottle, which is always hidden with respect to the label, a fundamental shape-figure in the history of the Western world and art.
For decades, the bar cabinet has been an essential small place in the government of the middle-class home. The magazines of the seventies and eighties, from Oggi to Gente, from Playboy to Epoca, showed a wide variety of advertisements for spirits, the hallmark of the modern, established man and his family. And it is on these themes that the artist has been developing his research on the bottle object since the early 2000s with collages, recompositions and assemblages that have become significant presences within more complex installation works.
On the occasion of ART CITY Bologna 2022 Flavio Favelli returns to open Jugopetrol, the artist’s private space in viale Silvani 10/A.
