Italo Zuffi: Fronte e Retro

The museum presents “Fronte e Retro” a solo exhibition by Italo Zuffi, curated by Lorenzo Balbi and Davide Ferri.  The exhibition continues in spring 2022 at Palazzo De’ Toschi, Bologna. Both shows include sculpture, photography, video and performance, as well as poetic language which is fundamental to Zuffi’s practice.

“Fronte e Retro” is divided into two chapters: at MAMbo the visitor can reinterpret the artist’s work thanks to a path based on a spectrum of works ranging from the early to mid-1990s, up to 2020. Palazzo De’ Toschi, on the other hand, will display a series of new works created in reaction to the characteristics of the space, touching on some key aspects of his recent research.

The exhibition revolves around some core thematics that have always been essential to Zuffi’s work and that we can translate into contrasting and opposing forces that can act on the body as well as on the sculptural form: between construction and destruction and fall; work and energy dispersion; softness and rigidity; fragility and competition.
