Julian Charrière: All We Ever Wanted Was Everything and Everywhere

MAMbo, Museo d’arte moderna di Bologna, Via Don Giovanni Minzoni, 14

All We Ever Wanted Was Everything and Everywhere” is the first solo exhibition in an Italian museum institution by Julian Charrière (Morges, Switzerland, 1987), an artist whose work connects the fields of environmental sciences and the history of civilization.

Curated by Lorenzo Balbi, the show features a wide selection of works including photographs, installations, sculptures and videos that touch on the themes of the history of science, the development of media culture, the romanticism of exploration and the contemporary ecological crisis.

His projects are often the result of field work in remote locations, which present strong geophysical profiles – volcanoes, glaciers, radioactive sites – always facing distant landscapes in extreme conditions. From his expeditions around the globe, Julian Charrière manages to bring out not only the pure and simple beauty of nature, but also the vulnerability and the rift between nature and civilization.
