Uniform Into the Work/Out of the Work

Fondazione MAST, Bologna, presents “Uniform Into the Work/Out of the Work”, a group show running January 25 – May 3, 2020.
This project, curated by Urs Stahel and dedicated to work uniforms, displays over 600 pictures by internationally renowned photographs that show the different uniforms worn by workers in numerous historical, social and professional contexts. Born to distinguish the role of those wearing them, uniforms have a paradoxical nature – they symbolize both the belonging to a given working category and, at the same time, a detachment from the collectivity.
This group exhibition involves artworks by 44 photographs and a solo show by Walead Beshty, who gathered hundreds of portrayals of the people he met working in the world of art.
