Museion, Via Dante, 6, 39100 Bolzano BZ, Italy
Curated by Andreas Hapkemeyer, the show brings together more than 50 works in ink or watercolor on paper by the German artist, continuing the exploration of the works in the Archivio di Nuova Scrittura which are part of the collection. Irma’s script-based aesthetic does away with the legible word, featuring poetic subdivisions of fictitious text into lines and blocks.
Irma Blank (Celle, Germany, 1934, lives and works in Milan) uses the written word as a tool for ituitive cognition, returning verbal language to the status of “Urzeichen”, primordial signs.
