Nomad Capri
For summer 2023 the 12th edition of NOMAD returns to a special place that is one-of-its-kind and an architectural gem waiting to be explored.
The Certosa di San Giacomo is the oldest historical building on the island of Capri. It was built in 1371 by Count Giacomo Arcucci, secretary to Queen Giovanna I. Nestled in the emerald-green landscape just above the jagged, rocky cliffs, from where you can admire a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni and shimmering Mediterranean sea, the fourteenth-century Carthusian monastery is located only a few steps away from the island’s central square, La Piazzetta.
It is the perfect backdrop for the curated selection of international galleries and special projects we have assembled this summer; the third chapter of “Artists in Flux” exhibition powered by GUCCI featuring three promising young creatives from different poles of the world— Cedric Mizero (Rwanda), Misha Kahn (USA), and Tarek Shamma (Egypt); the second Sustainable Design Summit or- ganized in collaboration with Architectural Digest Italia; a special focus on Murano Glass by cutting-edge designers and artists; and an amalgam of significant architectural projects and contributions, such as Michele De Lucchi, Juliana Vasconcellos and Studio Fuksas. Over the years, NO- MAD has established itself as a global platform that celebrates creativity and innovation, fostering projects that straddle art, design, and architecture.
By carefully selecting the location of each edition as well as the galleries, curators, and creatives it will showcase, NOMAD ensures an immersive but at the same time a bespoke experience for visitors that reflects the very best in contemporary art, jewelry and collectible design.
