Roni Horn
Subtle undertones, secret messages, and erotic signals emerge when Roni Horn’s works are displayed alongside great movie classics. This exhibition marks the artist’s first major solo presentation in the Nordics.
Roni Horn (born 1955) is known for her powerful works that juxtapose humans and landscapes, permanence and changeability, obscurity and transparency. Her art flows with light, water, and weather.
A unique figure in contemporary art, Horn exhibits globally and works in various media, including photography, sculpture, and drawing, with drawing as her primary activity. She is also a prolific writer with many published books.
Horn’s work revolves around identity, exploring questions about self, gender, emotions, and the order of nature versus humanity. Her series range from heavy glass sculptures that seem to float to conceptual map-like drawings and enigmatic portraits. Her intense relationship with literature, especially poets like Emily Dickinson and Anne Carson, and with Iceland, deeply influences her work.
