Pulse of Place: Selected Works from the Abdulla bin Ali Al Thani Collection

“Pulse of Place: Selected Works from the Abdulla bin Ali Al Thani Collection” marks the launch of a new publication featuring the art collection of Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al Thani, PhD, alongside an exhibition of works by graduates of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar.

Together, the book and exhibition reflect an ongoing engagement with Qatari art as a dynamic and evolving cultural practice. The publication draws on more than three decades of collecting, tracing the development of Qatari art from traditional to contemporary forms within their cultural and historical contexts.

The accompanying exhibition presents a range of works by VCUarts Qatar graduates, highlighting emerging practices shaped by research and experimentation. The project brings together established and emerging voices, supporting dialogue, education, and exchange within Qatar’s contemporary art landscape.
