Franz Wanner: Presenze sospese Immagini di uno sfruttamento
With the exhibition Franz Wanner – “Presenze sospese. Immagini di uno sfruttamento”, Kunst Meran | Merano Arte presents the first solo exhibition in Italy of the German artist Franz Wanner.
Franz Wanner (Bad Tölz, 1975, lives between Munich and Zurich) investigates structures of power and the mechanisms through which societies erase their past. His projects address subjects such as the German intelligence services, the arms industry, and the economic and ideological legacies of National Socialism in the Federal Republic of Germany. Combining documentary research with elements of fiction, he creates complex narratives that reflect on the institutionalisation of avoidance and the gaps in collective memory in Germany and South Tyrol.
For his first solo exhibition in Italy, Wanner explores the history of forced labour under National Socialism and its continuing implications. Curated by Kristina Kreutzwald and Martina Oberprantacher, the exhibition is a multimedia project featuring installations, videos, texts, and photographs arranged in a non-linear sequence that interweaves social and ideological themes across different media.
