Study for a Curtain is a site specific project conceived by the Iranian artist Abbas Akhavan for The Third Line.
The project represent a continuation of Abbas Akhavan‘s ongoing exploration of gardens and domesticated landscapes. The domestic sphere, as a forked space between hospitality and hostility, has been the main research’s area in Akhavan‘s work. More recent works have shifted focus, wandering onto spaces just outside the home.
Abbas Akhavan (b. 1977, Tehran) lives and works in Toronto, Canada. The artist’s practice ranges from site-specific ephemeral installations to drawing, video and performance. Akhavan is the recipient of Kunstpreis Berlin (2012) and Abraaj Group Art Prize (2014).
