Homebound: A Journey in Photography
The exhibition is part of the initiative "Ethiopia: Modern Nation - Ancient Roots"
This is a two-part exhibition, with the first part Aïda Muluneh’s Homebound: A Journey in Photography, to be curated by Salah M. Hassan, and will chronicle Aida Muluneh’s journey as an artist and a photojournalist, and her multiple contributions to imaging and image making in photographic-based works since her return to her homeland Ethiopia after years of living, studying and practicing in North America.
The second part, Addis FotoFest: Nine Years Survey, will be curated by the artist herself reflecting on her journey as a founder and director of Addis FotoFest (AFF) which she established in 2010 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The festival is organized by Desta for Africa Creative Consulting PLC. AFF is a biennial international photography festival held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is the first and only international photography festival in East Africa. (www.addisfotofest.com). The exhibition will include a selection of photographs reflecting on the history and evolution of modern and contemporary Ethiopian photography, in addition to a selection of works of other African contemporary photographers who have been exhibited and/or commissioned as part (AFF) activities
