Contrary Life: A Botanical Light Garden Devoted to Trees

Kuwait-based artists Alia Farid and Aseel AlYaqoub created the immersive installation “Contrary Life: A Botanical Light Garden Devoted to Trees“. The two were selected by a jury for the creation of a site-specific work on the occasion of the first edition of Art Jameel Commissions, which invited participant artists to use light as main medium. The work by AlYaqoub and Farid reflects on our relationship with nature and functions at the same time as community botanical garden, although made up of artificial trees and plants.
