Imitation Game is an exhibition of newly-commissioned outdoor sculpture for the Maraya Art Park. The artists explore what makes us human in the digital age. They examine our interaction with the chatbots who increasingly haunt the online world. Memory is one thing that machines are not able to imitate and this is addressed poetically in the exhibition. Exuberant sculptures and installations playfully examine the torrent of consumerism that engulfs our everyday existence and how it shapes our identity. The artists also investigate these questions with a focus on the idiosyncratic response of the Arab world to today’s global monoculture. They imagine alternative presents and futures as well as making us aware of the histories of the built environment, urban and rural, that surrounds and shapes us.
