Elmarsa presents a solo exhibition, curated by Rose Issa, featuring works by Tunisian painter and ceramist Khaled Ben Slimane.
The exhibition shows a new body of work, including paintings on paper, canvas, wood and ceramic works. The artist’s explorations in the expressive possibilities, drawing and painting on paper and canvas, influenced his inventions in the painterly treatment of ceramic surfaces.
Ben Slimane’s approach to spirituality and the use of Arabic scripts has expanded after his work at the Museum of Art, Tokyo in 1982 to work with the masters of Japanese Calligraphy.
“Ya latif” offers to see the distinct stylistic coherence that embraces all aspects of an oeuvre amidst time, space and spirituality.
