Leo Lefort: Iconomachy
During his four-week residency at Thejamjar, French visual artist Leo Lefort shows a series of works, gravitating around the habits of perceptions and their normalisation through massive production, instantaneous absorption and relative innocuous functions.
Lefort experiments with various media in both serious and playful manners to create an installation consisting of graphic representation production in situ, ranging from painting, drawings, colleges, prints and piece of sculptural nature.
Leo Lefort is a French art activist based in Ethiopia. Graduated with a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Université de Haute Bretagne, Rennes, he now teaches art history at the school of fine arts Addis Ababa University for four years, appointed head of the Visual Art Dept. at the American School.
Independent curator for the past ten years, Lefort has an extensive curatorial background and initiated many projects, including the acclaimed HOTEL DYSTOPIA platform shown during the Bastakiya Art Fair Dubai in 2010, Goethe Institute Addis 2011 and currently developing rooms in France, South Africa, Belgium, Italy and Cuba.
