Past, Borrowed

Gulf Photo Plus, in collaboration with Warehouse421, presents “Past, Borrowed”, an exhibition that depicts the history of the many migrant communities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through a collection of archival images, photographs, and texts. The exhibition takes place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary since the foundation of the UAE, and is based on substantial archival research aiming to bring together different narratives that constitute the history of the UAE.

The exhibition sheds light on the role of the migrant community in making the visual culture of the UAE, by displaying a collection of works by various UAE-born and based artists including Ammar Al Attar, Bhoomika Ghaghada, and Saleh Al Tamimi.
