Sheikha Wafa bint Hasher al Maktoum: Seamless Loop

Meem Art Gallery presents ‘Seamless Loop’, an exhibition by Sheikha Wafa bint Hasher al Maktoum. The exhibition explores themes of iconography, heritage and tradition through 16 works comprised of eight textile pieces and eight screen prints. Maktoum’s point of departure was to consider symbols she found endemic of the UAE, icons that symbolized the country. Selecting images of the falcon, the camel, the horse, the gazelle, the fish, the leopard, the fort and the palm, al Maktoum began experimenting with sketches and collages, playing with colour and texture. The result is the creation of mandala-like works in bright, texture-based fabrics.
