Simone Fattal

Curated by Sharjah Art Foundation Director Hoor Al Qasimi and hosted in the building F, SAF Art Spaces, Simone Fattal’s solo exhibition highlights recent works created between 2006 and 2013.

The show includes sculptures, non-figurative, simple formations made of clay, as well as works centred around textual compositions. Also included are some of the artist’s ‘Warrior’ sculptures, large standing figures that are representative of those continuously withstanding war and struggle.

Simone Fattal’s practice has always been informed by war and its historical contexts. The ancient material of clay that is both fragile and strong, allows Fattal to trace the past into the present. She situates herself along this continuum linking images, histories and their consequences that she feels are all present in her psyche and by extension, in her work.
