Simrin Mehra Agarwal: Hortus Arcanus

“Hortus Arcanus” is the new exhibition by Simrin Mehra Agarwal at 1×1 Art Gallery in Dubai. For the occasion, the artist presents a new body of work produced during her six-month-long Cultural Foundation Art Residency in 2020. The exhibition is supported by the scholarship / financial grant towards research and production by the Cultural Foundation, Abu Dhabi, and the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi.

Investigating the topics of nature’s growth and regeneration and the artificial sphere, Simrin presents extremely detailed, large-scale works covering entire wall spaces and creating immersive environments. Subjects of her works are botanical forms taking over artificial structures and transforming them into living hybrid organisms.
