Sonia Brewin and Sven Müller: The Permanent
A century on from the Bauhaus this exhibition explores new myths of production, with the paintings shown having been made in relationships of mirrored pairs which create a tension between form, colour, abstraction, and originality; part of an ongoing research project to explore philosophies and functions of institutional display alongside what Baudrillard (1968) termed the ‘miracle of buying’.
British-German duo Sonia Brewin and Sven Müller are graduates of The Slade and Hochschule Der Künste Berlin respectively. With works held in private collections including HRH The Prince of Wales and BBC, Brewin and Müller enjoy collaborating across media and cite diverse references including Joe Colombo, Fumikho Maki, James Baldwin, Anne Truit and Oskar Schlemmer as influential to their current practice.
