The Fairytales Come True: Worlds From the Imagination of Hans Christian Andersen
Organised by the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) in celebration of the writer's life and work
“The Fairytales Come True: Worlds From the Imagination of Hans Christian Andersen” is an interactive and experiential celebration of the writer’s life and work. It is organized by the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) in partnership with Sharjah Museums Authority as the first Hans Christian Andersen exhibition in the Arab region. The exhibition will run through April, the closing month for Sharjah World Book Capital year as well as Hans Christian Andersen’s birth month.
It is composed of display rooms that mix the analog with the digital the same way Andersen infused the magical into the real. There will be displays dedicated to fairytales and themes that he used in his stories. The exhibition will be a combination of interactive items, props, and technological solutions to bring his works to life; in addition to high-resolution copies and replicas of his portraits, drawings, papercuts, and more. The fairytales exhibited are a mix of his worldwide famous ones, as well as the lesser-known but just as whimsical.
