Vyacheslav ‘Yura’ Useinov: Mixed Threads

Alif Gallery, Dubai, presents an exhibition of work by Vyacheslav Useinov, artist well known in his native Uzbekistan where he works across a range of media and techniques, including photography, painting, sculpture and installation.
‘Mixed Threads’ is an overview of his practice, and favors the under–recognized genre of textile art. Useinov’s artworks blur the boundary between fine art and craft, representing a hybrid of rich cultural traditions of Central Asia.
‘Mixed Threads’ displays vibrant woven and textile works, which Useinov creates in many shapes and sizes – from wall mountings that mimic the format of painting to suspended pieces that hang from ceiling to floor like textured columns. The artist continues to explore the possibilities of textile as a rich utilitarian medium, conceptually as well as in terms of process.
