Wetland Research Lab, National Pavilion UAE – la Biennale di Venezia

The two architects Wael Al Awar and Kenichi Teramoto are currently researching a solution to the environmental issue of CO2 emissions generated by the production of traditional cement.

The two, also curators of the UAE’s National Pavilion at the 2021 Architecture Biennale, will present there their proposal: an alternative kind of cement created from recycled materials. At Alserkal Avenue, the Wetland research lab is open to the public with samples, experiments and additional materials documenting their ongoing research project, in partnership with specialist teams at the Amber Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi, the American University of Sharjah and the University of Tokyo.
