Afshin Pirhashemi’s latest solo exhibition imagines today’s migration crisis as a series of vignettes that form an epic story of freedom, desire, and determination.

Using allegory as a means of describing this difficult reality, several new large-scale works depict a group of bold women who must navigate a war-torn terrain in order to build new lives in far off lands.

Universal symbols of freedom such as the Statue of Liberty stand in stark contrast to a pack of wolves that lingers in the distance as Pirhashemi’s bold heroines seek to determine their own fate.
