What Are You Thinking
The group exhibition curated by Liberty Adrien and Carina Bukuts presents works by works by Pablo Accinelli, Jason Dodge, Florence Jung, Laura Lamiel, Lucia Nogueira, Laurie Parsons, and Bill Walton
“What Are You Thinking” explores the tension between perception and interpretation, drawing on Susan Sontag’s Against Interpretation to question the demand for artworks to be legible or purposeful. Across both galleries of Portikus, the exhibition unfolds gradually over eighteen weeks—works appear, disappear, and reappear, offering a shifting experience that resists fixed meaning.
Borrowing its title (without a question mark) from a work by Lutz Bacher, the exhibition embraces ambiguity and refusal as forms of resistance in a culture driven by clarity and constant disclosure.
