Artista x Artista

Artista x Artista is an initiative by Studio Carlos Garaicoa that will develop under a variety of formats with the objective of establishing relationships of horizontality between the younger art scene and a growing network of institutions and cultural agents at the international level.

The first public presentation of this platform for artists in residence in Havana, a project to be carried out in 2016, will be presented during the 12th Havana Biennial. Part of the working philosophy behind Artista x Artista was already on display in the Open Studio concept launched in 2007 by Estudio Garaicoa in Madrid.

The platform will create opportunities and conditions for international artists to stay in Havana, sharing with local cultural agents, giving workshops, and doing fieldwork and situated research.
Artist by Artist emerges from the need to find and generate support within the arts community in a context such as Cuba’s, where institutional management is insufficient to respond to the needs of emerging creators.
Artist x Artist presents an exhibition with works that have been part of the Open Studio between 2007-2015, an exhibition with guest artists who have been involved in this project which is facing a new stage.
