Daniel Buren: Promenades à La Havane

Daniel Buren (b. 1938, Paris) intervenes on a series of doors with different formats, creating a path along the Calle San Lazaro and around.

His famous 8.7 cm wide black and white stripes frame beautiful doors now painted by him in bright colors. The dialogue between the artist’s systematic work and the time-worn buildings reveals the beauty and diversity of architecture in Havana. These visual tools are literally alive all around the city, and help to sensitize inhabitants to their rich heritage.
