Mona Hatoum: The 10th Hiroshima Art Prize

Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, 1-1 Hijiyama-koen Minami-ku

The prize, established in 1989 to appeal to a wider world about the “Spirit of Hiroshima,”  is awarded every three years and in 2017 is presents an exhibition by Lebanese born artist Mona Hatoum.

Hatoum was born in Beirut to an exiled Palestinian family and she’s based in London since 1975. Her pieces are concerned with confrontational themes such as violence, oppression and voyeurism, often in reference to the human body.
