The first ever exhibition in Hong Kong by the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes (b. 1960, Rio de Janeiro), whose work combines modernist pictorial styles with Brazilian cultural imagery.
Beatriz Milhazes is well known for her vibrantly colorful, kaleidoscopic collages, prints, paintings and installations, inspired by Brazilian culture, ceramics, lacework, carnival decoration, music, and Colonial baroque architecture. Milhazes‘ paintings are in the permanent collections in many institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Banco Itaú, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
The exhibition will feature a group of new collages and painting. Rich colour and dynamic form appear in extraordinary compositions that form part of Milhazes‘ singular artistic vocabulary.
