Café do Brasil

Situated on the second floor of Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, a corner enjoying a seaside view, Café do Brasil was a home to many young intellectuals, a place to meet, to hang out and chat over caffeinated beverages, from the 60s through the 70s. 

Hard to gather enough visual records of the café nowadays, what can be filled this void, instead, are fragments from memories or, so to say, fantasies, as obscure as the heterogeneous narratives that surround it. The exhibition “Café do Brasil” is an attempt to recollect the historical fragments of its titular locale and delve into its resonance today.
