Doug Aitken at Massimo De Carlo

The first solo show in China by American artist Doug Aitken presents three works, created specifically for this show: two vast and incredibly materic sculptures made with materials such as resin, aluminum, concrete and plywood and a mesmerizing four minute video piece on a site-specific installation set in the Southern California desert aptly titled Mirage. All three works convey the ethereal yet grounded dream like quality of Doug Aitken’s practice where the viewer is spectator and actor, the artist viewer and voyeur, and the art work thought-provoking and bemusing.
