Fabien Mérelle: Étreindre
The exhibition by Fabien Mérelle, titled “Étreindre” at Edouard Malingue Gallery Hong Kong features a selection of recent drawings by the French artist.
Main protagonists of his pieces, himself and his family are translated in ink and watercolour. Through these artworks the viewer is immersed into the fantastical vision of the artist which talks about the relationship human and nature, uncertainty and transformation.
Taking inspiration from Chinese ink painting, Fabien technique deals with an almost surgical precision and the way he handles the brush demonstrates the master quality of his draughtsmanship. The monochromatic drawings represents the artist as unique narrator of his own stories and give the viewer an insight on the artist’s reflection n humanity and its interaction with nature.
