James Turrell: Yukaloo

Marking the artist’s first installation at an institution in Hong Kong, James Turrell’s Yukaloo (2011), which is an aperture with LEDs engineered to change colours gradually over the course of several hours, will be presented at Asia Society Hong Kong Center.

James Turrell (b. 1943, Los Angeles), best known for his installations of coloured light that appear boundless and infinite, which use light itself as medium to offer alternative perceptions and immersive atomsphere for his audience, is one of the leading American artists. His investigation on the materiality of light and the sensorial experience of space, color, and perception draws us closer to the presence of light and how it transforms our perception of space.
