Louise Bourgeois: My Own Voice Wakes Me Up
Hauser & Wirth presents renowned French-American artist Louise Bourgeois’ (1911 – 2010) first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, curated by Jerry Gorovoy, who worked closely with the artist from the early 1980s until her death in 2010.
For over 70 years, Bourgeois travelled between the concrete reality and the fantastic reality of her inner psychic landscape, and created forms out of her unique interaction with the world around her and merged the experience into her artistic practices. “My Own Voice Wakes Me Up takes its reference from one of Bourgeois’s writings and features on distinct bodies of work from the final two decades of the artist’s life.
The exhibition coincides with Bourgeois’s first large-scale museum tour in China, The Eternal Thread, presented at the Long Museum, Shanghai, and the Song Art Museum, Beijing.
