Porcelain – When East Meets West
Jointly presented by SOIL and Tung Yao Ceramics Design Studio, this exhibition will show how “porcelain” as a material can be practiced in different ways. Artist’s creations can be changed by the ideas and concepts behind them between different cultures, histories and backgrounds. The ceramicists Jago Poynter, from Great Britain, and Lin Sheng Qiang from Jingdezhen in China will showcase their creations fusing east and west through porcelain.
Artists will be present on 1st October and 2nd October 2016 at the exhibition. They will demonstrate the skills and techniques on “Hand-building” and “Throwing”, and will personally conduct the workshops. These workshops are available for registration by the public.
Workshops will be conducted in both English and Cantonese. Prior registration is required.
Registration fee is inclusive of all materials including clay, tools, glazing and firing costs. The piece finished at the workshop will be arranged for firing and will be ready for collection in two-week time.
