Agnes Questionmark: Nexaris Suite
Agnes Questionmark’s work explores a society evolving beyond traditional human limits, envisioning hybrid, fluid forms of humanity shaped by biology and technology. Her focus on trans bodies—transspecies, transgender, and transhuman—examines the medical and societal systems that pathologise and control them, highlighting the biopolitical implications in science and healthcare.
The exhibition “Nexaris Suite”, curated by Angel Moya Garcia, reflects on identity and morphology in an era of environmental and technological transformation, drawing from theorists like Foucault and Haraway. It presents resistance to surveillance and control, suggesting mutation as a means of defiance.
Referencing a hybrid surgical suite, the project critiques medical systems that reduce bodies to data for analysis and control. By reclaiming the gaze, it explores how power dynamics between observer and observed might be subverted. However, it also questions what happens when the eyes—symbols of autonomy—become objects of intervention.
Through video and installation, the exhibition investigates the intersection of science, imagination, and control, inviting reflection on possible futures beyond current constraints.
