Elisa Caldana: Il falco di Karachi
The exhibition explores the endangered Laggar falcon, native to Pakistan, India, and Myanmar. With collaborators across Europe and Pakistan, Caldana examines the tension between wildlife and domestication, reflecting on power dynamics, pollution, and non-human rights.
Designed for the museum’s rotunda, the installation recreates a Karachi courtyard, where works interact with each other and the audience. The exhibition includes a film shot during multiple visits to Karachi, textile pieces mimicking falcon feathers, and “Untitled (Released)”—a bronze sculpture resembling a plaster mould, capturing the moment before the falcon’s release, evoking both emptiness and liberation.
