The title of this group exhibition is freely taken from an ancient cosmological text and mirrors the spirit with which the exhibition was conceived – precisely cosmological, that is, interested in continuous processes that harmonise space, time and matter rather than at the origin or at possible ultimate ends. An idea which arises from the collaboration between Galleria Francesco Pantaleone (Palermo/Milano) and Laveronica arte contemporanea (Modica),
The story of Casa Balat begins with two brothers, Ignazio and Luca Mortellaro, who together have restored an old house in the countryside between Noto and Palazzolo Acreide (both Unesco heritage city and Baroque treasures) in the nearby town of Testa dell’Acqua, the oldest human settlement in Sicily. They have created a house which is energetically independent, using geothermal and solar energy. They have invited other friends to move to this area to build an active community, pursuing the utmost respect of the territory.
The desire is to create a space for music and art, a place to focus, create and reflect on different ways of life, stimulating dialogue in a natural context hosting artists, farmers, critics, curators, philosophers, scientists and thinkers alike.
Participating artists include: Stefano Arienti, Per Barclay, Francesco De Grandi, Flavio Favelli, Stefania Galegati, Igor Grubic, Alejandra Hernández, John Kleckner, Loredana Longo, Domenico Mangano & Marieke van Rooy, John Maybury & Arthur Gillet, Eva Marisaldi, Concetta Modica, Liliana Moro, Ignazio Mortellaro, Moira Ricci.
