Voci
“VOCI, Vittorio Corsini with Laura Bosio, Mauro Covacich, Maurizio de Giovanni, Romano De Marco, Ferruccio Parazzoli and Laura Pugno” is a project of the Municipality of Peccioli in collaboration with the Peccioliper Foundation with an Editorial project curated by Sandra Furlan and in collaboration with EMONS libri&audiolibri.
The unpublished stories of six of the most renowned contemporary Italian writers – Laura Bosio, Mauro Covacich, Maurizio de Giovanni, Romano De Marco, Ferruccio Parazzoli and Laura Pugno – and Vittorio Corsini’s artistic practice give voice and shape to six new permanent installations that, starting from the town of Peccioli, file through the neighbouring villages, creating unexpected routes.
Nestled in a hilly landscape with an ancient flavour, Peccioli combines the charm of medieval Tuscany with the concept of a truly widespread museum. Over the last thirty years or so, the Town Council has been working on a project that intersects contemporary art with the territory and its identity. Owing to a series of ad hoc interventions by contemporary artists (including Nagasawa, Dubosarsky-Vinogradov, Garutti and Corsini himself), a sort of open-air museum has been created over time, establishing new relationships with the surrounding landscape, enriching it with elements that intertwine with local history and traditions.
VOCI stems from the desire to create an artistic/literary journey through the discovery of new and unexplored places within the municipal territory of Peccioli. The narrative voices belong to some of the major contemporary authors. Each one was asked to contribute to a segment of this route, writing a story inspired by the fascination born of the encounter with some religious buildings scattered over the territory, mostly built near small villages, each with its own history and identity. Converted to audio format by the authors themselves, these stories return to the place they originate from, and find listening modes through six new works specially created by Vittorio Corsini for the purpose and installed inside the Bell Tower of the Church of San Verano, the Church of the Madonna del Carmine and the Church of the Serre in Peccioli, the Church of San Giorgio in Cedri, the Chapel of Saints Rocco and Sebastiano in Fabbrica, and the Oratory of the Santissima Annunziata in Ghizzano.
