Nipple Twist

The Nomadic Art Gallery presents its second exhibition in a new non-nomadic space based in Leuven. The group show explore the political and cultural meaning of the nipple in our contemporary society.

The Nomadic Art Gallery unveils its second in situ exhibition, which takes place from the 3rd December 2021 to January 2022 in Leuven. This new exhibition space is the first “stable” one for The Nomadic Art Gallery, which since 2020 was exclusively based on transitional gallery space. The exhibition, featuring New Zealand artists Oliver Cain and Chloe Marsters and Belgium-based artists Merijn Verhelst, Amat Gueye, and Layla Saâd, explores political and cultural meanings around the nipples.

Nipple appears to be controversial in our society, both in real and virtual life, since in recent times we are facing a new kind of sexual liberation through a visual approach.  This visual, cultural, and political process is leading to the reconstitution of notions of gender and sexuality.
