Rui Chafes: Acredito em Tudo / I Believe in Everything

Galeria Filomena Soares presents “Acredito em tudo” (“I Believe in Everything”), a solo exhibition by Portuguese sculptor Rui Chafes. Recognised as one of the leading figures in contemporary Portuguese sculpture, Chafes develops a distinctive body of work defined by a poetic and austere language. Working primarily with black-painted iron, he creates forms of delicate spirituality suspended between weight and lightness, silence and transcendence.

Since the late 1980s, Chafes has built a consistent practice exploring the immaterial through material presence. His work has been shown at major institutions including the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Fundação de Serralves, Museu Coleção Berardo, Centre Pompidou, S.M.A.K., Museum Folkwang, Kunsthallen Nikolaj, and Fondazione Volume!, affirming his position as a timeless voice in contemporary sculpture.
