Conrad Shawcross: After the Explosion, Before the Collapse
The solo exhibition dedicated to artist Conrad Shawcross at Victoria Miro Mayfair gallery features new abstract works by the artist which deal with scientific themes such as time, entropy and disappearance.
Fragments sculptures are twisting helical structures, composed by fragments, which explore once more in the artist’s ongoing practice the geometrical form of tetrahedron. Placed above the Fractures is Slow Fold Inside a Corner, 2018, a new mechanical work that slowly folds in on itself, formed by mirrored, little surfaces creating a changing and destabilising view of the gallery and the other works contained within it. The Aberrations are new series of prints created by exposing traditional photographic paper to a laser after it has passed through a fragment of glass to create intentional faults on its surface.
