Cosmic Mothers

The collective exhibition “Cosmic Mothers” assumes as a starting point the almost-namesake painting by the USSR artist Galina Konopatskaya, belonging to the state-encouraged Socialist Realism painterly tradition. The works on view include video, sound, painting and drawing to examine how alternative narratives across cultures and geographies act to resist dominant worldviews, drawing inspiration from cosmologies, science-fiction, esoteric practices and more alternative systems of knowledge.
