Heather Phillipson. Rupture No 1: Blowtorching The Bitten Peach

An immersive and multilayered installation transforming the spaces of Tate Britain

Tate Britain, Millbank, London SW1P 4RG, UK

Artist Heather Phillipson reimagines the spaces of Tate Britain, by filling the grand central galleries with colour, sound and motion. The work “Rupture No 1: Blowtorching The Bitten Peach” recreates a ‘pre-post-historic environment’, evoking an abundance of sensations and associations that resist coherence. The installation is the result of multilayered machines, colossal papier-mâché sculptures, hand-painted scenes, and digital video and sound.
