James N. Kienitz Wilkins: Hearsays

Hearsays is the title of the first solo exhibition of artist and filmmaker James N. Kienitz Wilkins. The exhibition comprises two moving image works: the first one is the HD video “Indefinite Pitch” (2016), while the second is a new commission, a virtual reality video titled “The Dynamic Range” (2018), conceived as a remodeling of a classic planetarium experience. Amongst the two film, a unique photographic print is exhibited, “The Second Person”, a manipulated lens-based picture of an image from the NASA image library.

Wilkins’ practice spans various media, combining documentary sources with original scriptwriting to investigate the role that narrative plays in the construction of truth. His works also draw inspiration from his own personal life, using both a funny and provocative way of expression.
