Pace Gallery presents in London a solo exhibition of new works by Light and Space master James Turrell

This exhibition is the artist’s ninth solo presentation with Paci Gallery and features three new works. With these new pieces, the artist James Turrell continues his exploration of technological possibilities combined with sensory practices and gradient colours.

Influenced by the notion of phenomenology in pictorial art, Turrell’s early work focused on the dialectic between constructing light and painting with it, now evolved to an investigation of the immateriality of light itself.

“To some degree, to control light I have to have a way to form it, so I use form almost like the stretcher bar of a canvas. I am interested in the form of the space and the form of territory, of how we consciously inhabit space.” states the artist.
