Jessica Vaughn: Exit Strategy
Jessica Vaughn‘s exhibition of new works is a further step in the artist’s investigation of architectural structures, as modes of segregation. Exit Strategy reproduces the paperwork office materials and furniture that usually characterise the office cubicles of bureaucratic architectures; these function as metaphors for the unseen people that maintain the institutions that structure these forms of labour. Several sheets listing job titles and their respective wages are also on display, featuring workers who keep private and public institutions running while their role is also explored in the video work “Visible Hands”, which show close-up images of hands, performing different kind of production works. The exhibition, then, explores elements of workspaces that could result in experience of economic and racial segregation.
