María Berrío: Flowered Songs and Broken Currents

María Berrío‘s large-scale works are built from layers of Japanese paper, referencing the artist’s personal history to address universal topics, such as connections between different cultures and global migrations. The solo exhibition at Victoria Miro in London is centred on the quiet after a catastrophe, an expression of resilience and adaptation to loss. In the exhibited works, Berrío witness the grief of a village in Colombia after a tragedy.
